    Improvisation process

Performance and action in situation, from social sciences to artistic practices.

This transdisciplinary project elaborates a reflexive and collaborative approach between social sciences and arts (performing arts, music and film)

It is on the basis of these questions that four art schools teamed up to experiment and explore the role of improvisation in artistic creation: The Manufacture for theatre, Lausanne Conservatory (HEMU) for music, Lausanne University of Art and Design (ECAL) for film, and Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD) for performance.

How and in what forms can certain artistic practices make use of conceptual frameworks developed by the social sciences? What is the value of such frameworks, how efficiently do they work, and how productive are they when applied to practices alien to their original source? To what extent can this exercise confer the power of self-reflection on artistic practices?
