Latifa Laâbissi · Danses Tordues and Prodigies (conférence)

    Conférence-dansée

Danses Tordues and Prodigies is a montage of words and dance based on my work as a choreographer, dancer and performance artist.

This lecture-dance unravels the threads of choreographic work, such as the conception and cannibalization of a figure, a rethinking of repertory dance and original creations, the presence of the voice, the politics of minority accents, and the contemporary perception of the subversive figure of the witch since Mary Wigman.

I use different forms such as stand-up, humor, satire and the grotesque, as well as dance reviews. This heterogeneity of my sources and the mixing of genres is an integral part of my work.”

Latifa Laâbissi was born in Grenoble in 1964. She began her contemporary dance practice in France before continuing her training in New York at the Cunningham studio. On her return to Europe in 1990, she worked as a performer with Jean-Claude Galotta's Groupe Émile Dubois. She has also performed for choreographers such as Georges Appaix, Loïc Touzé, Robyn Orlin, Jennifer Lacey, Dominique Brun and Boris Charmatz. In 2008, she founded her own company, Figure Project, and three years later created Extension Sauvage, a contemporary dance program based in rural Ille et Vilaine.
