The actor against the testimony of the transcript to interpretation.
Pursuing thoughts that arose during their studies at Manufacture, Véronique Doleyres and Jean-Baptiste Roybon continued their exploration of the interpretation of people’s speech on stage.
After devoting themselves to the world of farming in the Grenoble region in 2011, and that of adolescents at the Les Airelles community centre in Tour-de-Peilz in 2012, they turned to employees of the former precious stone cutting works which between 1942 and 1998 occupied the premises of the Manufacture.
The questions they wished to answer were: How can living language be brought to life on stage ? How can it be exploited from a theatrical point of view ? Why is the oral expression of others so difficult to capture ? What is the actor’s place in the midst of other people’s words ? How can he make them his own ?
