    Joan Ayrton

Joan Ayrton (1969 - Switzerland) is an English artist living in Paris. Her work - painting, photography, film - questions the issues of the gaze and of representation through a reflection that mainly associates color, architecture and landscape. For some years now, her attention has been focused more specifically on the geological character of the landscape, a research that leads her to consider the instabilities of the contemporary physical and political world.

From 1993 to 2004, Joan Ayrton collaborated with directors and choreographers at the Théâtre du Quartz in Brest, Vidy in Lausanne, Théâtre de la Ville and La Colline in Paris. A dramaturgical work in drawing and painting, research and proposals on the "scenic landscape". A material of reflection for the staging and the scenography, creation of posters and various visual supports.

She teaches at the Villa Arson (Nice), and started in 2020 a PhD in creation at the EUR Cergy on the links between geology, psychedelism and environmental drift.
