In June 2025, the Class N students will present ‘Zucco’, their graduation show, in Lausanne, then on tour.
This year, Gabriel Calderón will be working with the actors in the promotio N on the final production of their Bachelor's degree in Theatre.
Together, they have taken Bernard-Marie Koltès' latest play, loosely based on the story of the Italian serial killer Roberto Succo, who symbolises the darkest side of humanity, and tackled the issue of violence generated by social inequality and exclusion.
During their final year of study, the students in the N class will share several periods of work at La Manufacture with Gabriel Calderón to create the show. They will also have the exceptional opportunity to spend 4 weeks in residence in Montevideo, Uruguay, working with the director and discovering the reality of another creative context. The experience will continue on their return to Switzerland with a premiere at the Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne, followed by a tour.

I seek to work with students in the context of creation and rehearsal in Uruguay, where the precarious conditions of the institutions encourage maximum effort and creativity in the realization of performances. At the same time, introducing students to another reality and another creative context enables them to think and create from the periphery and outside our centers of creative confinement. Uruguay is a country on the bangs and periphery of the creative nerve centers, it's not in Europe, North America, Argentina or Brazil, it's a small country of three million inhabitants, which forces us to push creative strategies to the extreme to make our voice heard in the global theatrical spectrum. I'm also looking to work with the play, Roberto Zucco, which takes place in peripheral contexts, in the urbanity of a city or in the landscapes of a village where the characters live, marginalized by the centers of power, from which they are excluded and victimized. That's why the context of a third-world country is so appropriate for offering students a unique creative experience.
